CALLING all women landowners of warren county!
The Women for the Land program connects women landowners and resource professionals while learning about the fundamentals of land conservation. Nearly three hundred and one million acres of U.S. land – about a third of the nation’s land in farms – are now farmed or co-farmed by women and at least eighty-seven million additional acres are in the hands of women landowners. Over the next 20 years, the numbers of women farming and or taking on a management role on farmland is likely to increase as three hundred and forty-million acres of farmland are expected to change hands when farmers retire or leave their land to the next generation.
Women face gender-related barriers to managing their land for long-term sustainability. And while women are increasingly playing primary decision-making roles on farms and many are inclined towards conservation, they remain underrepresented in their utilization of USDA and state-based conservation programs.
2024 Program Series now OPEN! These programs are free but registration is required. Sign up for 1, 2, or all 3!
Questions? Contact Cindy Meyer, Conservation Program Specialist, at cindy.meyer@co.warren.oh.us or 513-695-2530.
