Urban Chat 2 - Old stormwater basins can be out of compliance with current water quality regulations. With the new Ohio EPA MS4 Permit coming out soon, there are new TMDL areas identified throughout Warren County, requiring new measures to improve water quality in our streams and lakes. One of those options is to retrofit an out-of-compliance stormwater basin. Tune in as Justin Bedocs with Warren County Soil and Water reviews the new draft MS4 permit and new TMDL's identified in Warren County. Speaker Chris Rust with Strand Associates presents "OKI Stormwater Basin Inventory Evaluation: Regional Evaluation for Detention Basin Retrofits in Southwest Ohio". His presentation explains how to evaluate existing detention basins for potential retrofits, and includes examples of retrofits that have been implemented on existing outlet control structures to reduce peak flow rates, alleviate downstream erosion, and improve water quality.
